The British Compressed Gases Association (BCGA) has appointed a new Chair of its Transport committee.

Darren Weston, from Air Liquide UK, takes on the leadership role of TSC4, which is responsible for all matters relating to the carriage of compressed gases by road, rail, sea, air and vehicles, as well as their construction and use.

TSC4 is particularly focused on the requirements and constraints imposed by legislation, both nationally and internationally.

Ellen Daniels, Chief Executive of BCGA, said: “Darren brings a wealth of experience on the carriage of Class 2 goods and his insight offers a welcome addition to the expertise within the committee.

“Our industry draws on expert knowledge to deliver our mission safety approach across all elements of our sector.

“We look forward to Darren leading on this specialist topic for BCGA.”

The UK membership body for the compressed gases sector, BCGA is committed to stringent quality, safety and environmental measures.

Its members operate in a highly regulated industry, with a focus on best practice in technical, safety, health and environmental issues, volunteering their own expertise and insight to drive forward best practice in these key areas.

Overseen by the BCGA’s Technical Committee, the subcommittees including TSC4 play a key role in developing the Association’s highly regarded and free to access library of technical documents, including Codes of Practice and Guidance Notes.

These are used as a point of reference and referred to across the industry and in related sectors, both nationally and internationally.
